Foreign card fee comparison

Compare what two cards charge on the same overseas spending.

Your comparison

Ready when you are
—

How it works

Multiply converted purchase spending by each card’s foreign transaction fee. Use your card issuer’s fee schedule and one home currency. This comparison covers purchase fees only. ATM and merchant conversion fees are separate.

How to compare foreign transaction fees on travel cards

Use the foreign purchase fee in each issuer’s terms and estimate how much you’ll spend in your home currency. This compares the percentage fee on purchases. ATM charges, merchant conversion, annual card fees and rewards can change the overall comparison.

Putting the result to work

On $1,500 of eligible purchases, a 3% foreign transaction fee adds $45. A card with a 0% fee adds $0 for that particular charge.

Where do I find my card’s foreign transaction fee?

Check your specific card’s pricing disclosures or cardholder agreement. Cards from the same issuer can have different terms.
