City budget comparison

Compare the monthly cost of two cities using your own rent quotes and everyday spending estimates.

Your comparison

Ready when you are
—

How it works

Add monthly rent, day-to-day spending, and work costs for each city. The difference is the larger monthly total minus the smaller total. Convert all your inputs to the same currency first.

How to compare the cost of living in two cities

Compare the same setup in each city. Use a furnished apartment if that is what you plan to book, then estimate groceries, meals, transport and workspace for a typical month. Convert both estimates into one currency before comparing.

Putting the result to work

If one city costs $1,600 per month and the other costs $1,770, the difference is $170. Add the cost of getting there separately if the cheaper city requires a more expensive flight.

Can I use a resident cost-of-living estimate for a short stay?

Use it to shortlist cities. Before booking, replace the housing figure with a quote for your dates. Furnished rentals and seasonal availability can change your actual budget.
